2009-10-30: More than 100 patients in "Save Children's Hearts" program



Since August 2003, 106 children have received a heart surgery by the "Save Children's Hearts program", led by German surgeon Dr. Christian Schlensak. Most of the surgeries took place in El Salvador. The more serious cases were taken to University Hospital in Freiburg, Germany. We thank all our supporters!







2009-08-29: "Patients 92 and 93 of "Save Children's Hearts" program

Celina Hernández and Sofía Milena Henríquez are home in El Salvador again, where they enjoy the caring love of their parents and family, after undergoing a surgery by Prof. Christian Schlensak at University Hospital Freiburg within “Save Children's hearts” project.

2009-07-29: "Patients 92 and 93 of "Save Children's Hearts" program



Celina Hernández and Sofía Milena Henríquez are our patients 92 and 93 of "Save Children's Hearts" program ("Kinderherzen retten e.V."). Both recently have come to Germany in order to undergo a surgery by Prof. Dr. Schlensak of University Hospital in Freiburg.
The surgeries of Celina and Sofía Milena were successfully accomplished, both of our girls are recovering and will soon return to El Salvador as healthy girls.

2009-07-07: Medical donation for “Mano Amiga San Antonio” school



Ambassador Edgardo Suárez Mallagray recently visited “Mano Amiga San Antonio” school in El Salvador, in order to hand over a medical donation, which was financed by a gala event of the embassy in Berlin and Das Corps GmbH.
Ambassador Suárez was accompanied by German Journalist Christina Margenfeld. who had won a ticket to El Salvador at the gala tombola.

2009-05-22: Donation of FRESENIUS BIOTECH GMBH



Kelvin Alexander Morataya García and Bryan Adalberto Sánchez Gómez, 7 and 11 years old, are two Salvadorian children zwei salvadorianische Kinder suffering from a far advanced and life-threatening aplastic anemia. The medicine for successful treatment ist very expensive in El Salvador and difficult to supply.

On inquiry of this embassy, FRESENIUS BIOTECH GMBH provided the medicine for both children free of charge. Due to this donation Kevin Alexander and Bryan Adalberto could start their therapies.

2009-05-07: "Interwoven Identities“ - Exhibition of Salvadorianischen Artist Nicolas Shi in the Ibero-American Institute Berlin

In the Ibero-American Institute in Berlin the "Interwoven Identitities“ exhibition of Salvadorian Artist Nicolas Shi was opened. This exhibition was made possible thanks to the determined support of the institute´s administration and staff, who co-operated intensively with the staff of El Salvador´s consulate in Berlin. The exhibition ends on maz 22nd and is open for public audience from monday to friday between 9.00am and 1.00pm.

2009-04-22: 90th and 91st Salvadorian child in "German Heart" program



Departure of Erica Mejivar and Jonathan Brenes. Both children successfully received a heart surgery by Dr. Christian Schlensak of University Hospital Freiburg within the "German Heart" program.

2009-02-21: 89th Salvadorian child in "German Heart" program



Luis Adonay España accompanied by his mother, Dina Zuniga, at their arrival at San Juan de Dios Hospital in Santa Ana. Before, Luis had to stay for nearly 3 months in Freiburg University Hospital, due to the complexity of his case. In Freiburg he had received a surgery within the scope of "Save Childrens´ Hearts" program.
Thanks to the program, Luis Adonay has recovered with a now healthy heart.









2009-02-08: “German heart”

During his working visit in Freiburg, Ambassador Edgardo Suarez Mallagray met the mothers of Luis Adonay España Zuniga and Mario José Colocho. These two Salvadorian children have recently received a surgery by Mr. Christian Schlensak in Freiburg University Hospital within the scope of the program „Kinderherzen retten e.V.“.

2009-01-22: 88th and 89th Salvadorian children in the project “German heart”



Recently Mario José y Luis Adonay were the 88th and 89th children in the project "German heart", which was founded in 2003.

2008-12-19: Workshop with VIPE Foundation



Honorary General Consul of El Salvador in Düsseldorf and president of VIPE e.V., Mr. Karlheinz Wolfgang, summoned a meeting, in order to evaluate results of the projects realized in 2008, as well as to introduce ideas for new projects in 2009. Participants at this meeting were Ambassador of El Salvador in Germany, Mr. Edgardo Carlos Suárez Mallagray, members of the board of VIPE e.V., Salvadorians living in Düsseldorf, and a delegation from Don Bosco University, led by Director Professor Federico Huguet.

After the reports of VIPE President and discussions regarding the different projects, the following agreements were made:
- A similar amount of money as in the current year will be spent in 2009 for two or threee projects.
- A Master´s degree program for individual psychology will be established.
- development of detailed plans concerning building of 900 square meters and two floors for the personal mentoring of all 7000 students or the Universität;
- a scientific survey about positive effects of early childhood motivation compared to actual educational norms.

VIPE-members will will pa a visit to El Salvador in February and October 2009, in order to support the projects´ realizations.

2008-11-28: Dancing Festival "Tanz der Kulturen der Welt"



On November 8, 2008 the 4th Dancing Festival "Tanz der Kulturen" took place in the big saloon of RBB. This year dancing group „Flor de Fuago Izalco“ from El Salvador attended. The group consists of Cecilia Dadek, her two daughters Veronika and Melinda as well as Marielos Barrera Zaldivar. Among the more than 10 different nations and more than 20 dances, „Flor de Fuego Izalco“ presented the folkloristic dances „Las Comaleras“ and „Adentro Cojutepeque“. Both dances were enjoyed and celebrated by the spectators.






2008-11-13: Latin America Day 2008



Latin America Day 2008 took place on October 30 and 31, 2008 in Munich. Participants were important German and Latin American Entrepreneurs as well as representatives of government and diplomatic corps. This important event was organized by Latin America Association and under the patronage of Bavarian state ministry for economy, infrastructure, transport and technology, the chamber of commerce for Munich and Upper Bavaria, UniCredit Group and Siemens AG. Special guests were Prime Minister of the Republic Trinidad and Tobago, H. E. Patrick Manning, and Vice President of the Republic of Columbia, H. E. Dr. Francisco Santos Calderón.

The City Hospital of Kiel donated 13 dialysis machines for different hospitals in El Salvador. They will help covering the increasing need of such treatments in our country.
Ambassador Edgardo Carlos Suárez Mallagray thanked the managing senior physician of Kiel Hospital for this donation, which are also a result of Mr. Peter Völpel´s efforts, Honorary Consul of El Salvador in Schleswig-Holstein.

2008-10-10: 187th anniversary of Central American independence (1821-2008)

In remembrance of the 187th anniversary of Central American independence, the embassies of Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras and Nicaragua gave a welcome for important personalities of German government, members of diplomatic corps and other personalities connected with the embassies.








2008-10-02: Meeting with State Secretary of the Foreign Ministry, Mr. Reinhard Silberberg


Durig the recent visit of Salvadorian Foreign Minister Mrs. Marisol Argueta de Barillas to Germany, a meeting with State Secretary of the Foreign Ministry Mr. Reinhard Silberberg took place. On this occasion Minister Argueta pointed out the importance of consolidating our both countries relations, considering the common objectives.
The government representatives also discussed topics of the multilateral agenda. State Secretary Silberberg expressed his satisfaction regarding the advances in the Central American integration process and praised the leading role of El Salvador in this process in the region.






2008-09-26: Meeting with Secretary of State of the Federal Ministry für Economic Cooperation and Development, Mr. Erich Stather


During the visitof Salvadorian Foreign Minister Mrs. Marisol Argueta de Barillas in Germany, a meeting with Secretary of State of the Federal Ministry für Economic Cooperation and Development, Mr. Erich Stather, took place. The following topics, focussing on cooperation of German government with the region, were discussed: Sustainable economic development, protaction of the environment and renewable energies. Minister Argueta de Barillas envinced interest of our country in finding out more about the German experiences regarding the development of renewable energies as an alternative, considering the actual energy crisis.






2008-09-19: Visit of Foreign Minister Mrs. Marisol Argueta de Barillas in Germany

Within the scope of her recent visit to Germany, a workshop with Foreign Minister of El Salvador, Mrs. Marisol Argueta de Barillas, and Regional Director of KfW Bank Group for Latin America and The Carribeans, Mr. Rüdiger Hartmann, took place. On this occasion the following important topics were discussed: Advancement of the development initiative for canalization projects and local development, support of the regional safety plan, as well as the meaning of cooperation of countries with medium national income. The Minister informed about the fact, that Germany has offered the financing of investments in El Salvador and projects for the advancement of regional integration.





2008-09-18: Meeting with Vice Minister for Regional Development of Czech Republic Mr. Jiři Vačkář



During her recent visit in Czech Republic a meeting took place between Foreign Minister of El Salvador, Mrs. Marisol Argueta de Barillas, and Vice Minister for Regional Development, Mr. Jiři Vačkář. In this meeting aspects regarding tourism sector, air traffic, territorial development and development cooperation for countries with medium national income were talked over.

Within her visit in the Czech Republic a meeting of Foreign Minister of the Republic of El Salvador, Mrs. Marisol Argueta de Barillas, and Minister of Education, Youth and Sports of the Czech Republic, Mr. Ondřej Liška, took place. In this meeting the following topics were discussed: educational programs as „Young El Salvador 2008“, the national plan „Education 2021“, the continuation of scholarship programs for Salvadorian students and topics of the XVIII Ibero American summit „Youth and Development”, which takes place soon.

Official Visit of Foreign Minister of the Republic of El Salvador, Mrs. Marisol Argueta de Barillas, in Czech Republic



On 4th of September Foreign Minister of El Salvador, Mrs. Marisol Argueta de Barillas, visited Czech Republic, in order to strengthen the existing relations between both countries. During this visit a meeting with the Czech counterpart, Mr. Karel Schwarzenberg, took place, in order to talk about the following topics of reciprocal interest: trade relations, approximation of business sectors and boost of foreign investments in the areas auto industry supply, elektronic and small-scale industry as well as developement of alternative energies and mutual boost of tourism.

The Czech Minister and the Salvadorian Foreign Minister signed a memorandum about communication, political consultation and co-operation between both foreign ministries.

2008-08-13: Workshop with our Honorary General Consul in Duesseldorf,
Mr. Karlheinz Wolfgang and other members of the VIPE e.V.




In the office of our Honorary General Consul in Neuss, Mr. Karlheinz Wolfgang, a work shop with members of the VIPE foundation took place on August 01. The workshop was focused on the advances in co-operation projects of this foundation - whose head Mr. Wolfgang is - in different regions of our country for the benefit of the poor. Moreover the options for new projects in education, health and community benefits were discussed.

2008-07-12: Reunion of the Latin American and Carribean Ambassadors (GEALC)




In the residence of Brasilian Ambassadors Luis Felipe Seixa y Correa recently a reunion of the Latin American and Carribean Ambassadors´ group (GEALC) took place. On this occasion the president of Goethe Institute, Professor Dr. Klaus-Dieter Lehmann, was present as a special guest.







2008-07-02: Central American Conference regarding renewable energies and the mechanism of a environmental friendly developement in Central America and the Dominican Republic



Recently in the city of Hamburg Stadt Hamburg the Central American Conference regarding renewable energies and the mechanism of a environmental friendly developement in Central America and the Dominican Republic took place. Among the participants were the Ambassadors of Guatemala, Honduras, Panama und El Salvador, Mr. Waldo Moncada, representing the Central American Bank for Economical Integration (BCIE), and Eduardo Reyes from the National Environment Agency (ANAM) of Panama as well as a selected group of entrepreneurs. This important conference was organized by Latin America Association in cooperation with the chamber of commerce in Hamburg and the Federal Ministry for Economy and Technology.








2008-06-27: Donation of von dialysis machines



Organized by our Honorary Consul Peter Völpel the Kiel Hospital donated 10 dialysis machines, which will soon be sent to El Salvador, to be used there. The symbolic handover of the machines took place in this hospital, within the recent visit of Ambassador Edgardo Suárez Mallagray, accompanied by General Consul Florencia Vilanova de von Oehsen and Honorary consul of El Salvador in Kiel, Mr. Peter Völpel. The Ambassador thanked the hospital´s administration for this donation, which will help cover the increasing and urgent need of these machines in our country.







2008-06-20: Workshop with AVENTOURA sales representative




In line with the visits at travel companies, aiming at promoting our country in the German travel market, recently a workshop with the AVENTOURA sales representative, Mrs. Nora Hoffmann, took place. Besides the AVENTOURA employees, Ambassador Edgardo Suárez Mallagray, General Consul Florencia Vilanova de von Oehsen and Mrs. Verónica Uhse, representative of the Salvadorian travel company El Amate, took part in the meeting. AVENTOURA travel company has its headquarter in the city of Freiburg.







2008-06-13: Presentation of El Salvador at travel company Ikarus Tours



Königstein is the home of the travel company Ikarus Tours, one of the big travel companies which is selling touristic packages in co-operation with the most important German travel agencies as well on the national as on the international level. Mr. Tobias Bening, Ikarus Tours director for North- and Central America, followed the presentation by Ambassador Edgardo Suárez Mallagray with big interest, in order to provide a bigger number of German tourists to our country. um unserem Land einen größeren Zustrom deutscher Touristen zu ermöglichen.
The Ambassador was accompanied by General Consul Florencia Vilanova de von Oehsen and Mrs. Verónica Uhse, representing the Salvadorian travel company El Amate.








2008-06-06: Presentation of El Salvador at travel company GEBECO



Recently a workshop took place in Kiel, with the travel company GEBECO, which is located there. Representatives of 13 travel agencies took part in the event. On this occasion Ambassador Edgardo Suárez Mallgray presented our country as an interesting travel destination, which is fit for being included into the touristic packages, which this travel organizer - the biggest of whole Schleswig-Holstein - offers its clients.
In this meeting the Ambassador was accompanied by our General Consul Florencia Vilanova de von Oehsen and by our Honorary General Consul in Kiel, Mr. Peter Völpel.






2008-05-30: Meeting the Salvadorian Community in Baden-Württemberg



During their recent visit in Freiburg Ambassador Suárez Mallagray ans General Consul Vilanova de von Oehsen also met with the Salvadorians living in Baden-Württemberg, in order to learn more about the Salvadorians in this region. The community work was discussed. On this occasion they also presented the project „Save childrens´ hearts“ and its successes since its start in the second half of 2003. Moreover the project „Mano Amiga“ (friendly hand) of CIDECO foundation was introduced, which is aiming at school adoptions for unpriviledged children in El Salvador. Finally a plan for this year´s cultural activities with Salvadorians living in Germany.

2008-05-23: Visit of the University Hospital in Freiburg


Accompanied by General Consul Florencia Vilanova de von Oehsen, Ambassador Edgardo Suárez Mallagray visited the University Hospital in Freiburg during his recent working trip through different German cities. Included was a meeting with the Salvadorians María Elena Fajardo and Nohemy Portillo, whose daughters María Elena and Tatiana had a surgery under the patronage of the program „Kinderherzen retten e. V.“ ("Save Childrens´ hearts"). Afterwards a meeting took place with Dr. Christian Schlensak and further members of the doctor´s team, which is going to make a working trip to the Childrens´ Hospital Benjamin Bloom in El Salvador in the end of June in the context of the program „Kinderherzen retten e. V.“ ("Save Childrens´ hearts").




2008-05-15: Visit of the hospital „Heart and Diabetes Center North Rhine-Westphalia“ in Bad Oeynhausen



Ambassador Edgardo Suarez Mallagray visited on May 1st the hospital „Heart and Diabetes Center North Rhine-Westphalia“ in Bad Oeynhausen, where he was welcomed by the director of the cardiology, Dr. Deniz Kececioglu, and the salvadorean doctor Jorge Palacios, who completes a practical training in the childrens´ cardiology. On this occasion Dr. Kececioglu handed over a donation of catheterization material of about 20,000 US $ of worth. The material was forwarded to Freiburg University Hospital, from where it will be sent to El Salvador together with other material which will be used during the next doctors´ trip within the „Save childrens´ hearts“ project; this working visit will take place in El Salvador between June 28 and July 5 of this year in the Bloom Hospital.







2008-04-15: Awards ceremony of the competion „Goodbye cliché! You live like this, and how do I live?“ and Salvadorian visit




In order to support the school partnerships between Berlin and El Salvador, KATE e. V. invited to a competition themed „Goodbye cliché! You live like this, and how do I live?“
The association invited the teacher Mr. Juan Carlos Trujillo Murillo from the Instituto Nacional Cornelio Azenón Sierra and the student Yoselin Liseth Escalante Sigüenza from Monterrosa de Cárcamo School, both from Atiquizaya, Department Ahuachapán, El Salvador, to take part in the ceremony. They were welcomed by General Consul Florencia Vilanova de von Oehsen. The cultural frame was enriched by contributions of Counselour Mr José Napoleón Mariona, reading from an awarded screenplay concept, by „Don Paco“ with his rap music and by the folklore music by „Carlos Rafael Zaldivar y sus Amigos“.





2008-03-20: El Salvador at International Tourism Fair (ITB)



Again El Salvador took part in the International Tourism Fair ("Internationale Tourismus Börse ITB"), which took place in Berlin recently. A delegation of Salvadorian Entreprenuers and public officials, led by tourismus minister El Salvador and the president protempore of the Central American Tourism Board Lic. Rubén Rochi. El Salvador´s stand was integrated into the Central American stand, which was coordinated by CATA, the Tourism Promotion Agentcy for Central America, whith its head office in Spain.





14.03.2008: Visit of the central office of GTZ



Ambassador Edgardo Suarez Mallagray recently visited GTZ (Deutsche Gesellschaft für Technische Zusammenarbeit) central office in Eschborn, where he was welcomed by Mr. Günter Rossmann, manager for Mexiko, Central America, The Carribeans and Eastern Latin America. During this meeting different aspects of the German cooperation in El Salvador were discussed, as well as the organisation of the Ibero American Summit, taking place in this year´s October in El Salvador.

2008-03-11: Visit of the new GTZ representative for El Salvador


Recently this embassy welcomed Mr. Christof Kunemann, who was announced the new GTZ (Deutsche Gesellschaft für Technische und Zusammenarbeit GmbH) representative for El Salvador, from July 2008. Mr. Kunemann affirmed his interest to cooperate closely with this embassy regarding the development of projects of the German government in El Salvador.

2008-02-25: Ibero American Summit

The Ambassador of El Salvador, Edgardo Suarez Mallagray, welcomed Mr. Klaus Jürgen Hedrich, former State Secretary (1983-2005), to talk about organisational aspects of the XVIII. Ibero American Summit, taking place in El Salvador from October 29 to 31, 2008.









2008-02-18: Meeting in Neuss



The Ambassador of El Salvador, Edgardo Suarez Mallagray, and the General Consul of El Salvador, Florencia Vilanova de von Oehsen, met with our Honorary General Consul Mr. Karlheinz Wolfgang in Neuss, to discuss the progress of different aid projects of VIPE, especially the project for Chalatenango, El Salvador.

2008-02-03: Meeting in Cologne


On the third of February the Ambassador of El Salvador, Edgardo Suarez Mallagray, and the General Consul of El Salvador, Florencia Vilanova de von Oehsen, met with Salvadorians in the "Alte Feuerwache" in Cologne, to discuss different topics, such as the needs of the Salvadorians in Germany.





2008-01-22: Partnership agreement beween Carlo Schmidt Oberschule and INCAS Institute

On Friday, 26th of October, Carlo Schmidt High School“ in Berlin-Spandau and „Instituto Nacional Cornelio Azenón Sierra“ (INCAS) from Atiquizaya, El Salvador, have signed a partnership contract.

Representiing the high school was Mrs. Petri, manager for social studies division, Fachbereichsleiterin für Gesellschaftskunde, representing the Embassy of El Salvador was Counselor Mr. Napoleón Mariona.

The project was initiated by „KATE e.V.“, an association which organises school exchanges between Germany and Latin America. KATE e.V. also encouraged the „Vincent van Gogh High School“ in Berlin-Hohenschönhausen and the Friedrich Engels High School in Berlin-Reinickendorf, to make a contact with „Centro Escolar Mercedes Monterrosa de Cárcamo“ in El Salvador.




2008-01-10: Beginning of the building of German-Salvadorian study and culture center San Juan Don Bosco, with online library (on 26.10.2007)







2008-01-02: Delivery of the German-Salvadorian pre school in katholic school centre San Juan Don Bosco (on 26.10.2007)



During a ceremonial act, with vivid attendance of many pre school children, an educational institution for 120 children was inaugurated in Soyapango. The institution was financed by German VIPE Organisation, under chairmanship of Karlheinz Wolfgang, Honorary General Consul of El Salvador. Responsibility for realisation was taken by Order of the Salesians, represented by padre Salvadore Cafarelli, project manager Padre Pierre Muyshondt as well as Prof. Frederico Huguet, Director of Don Bosco Universität.





19.12.2007: Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year 2008

03.12.2007: Visit of J. J. Darboven in Hamburg.



During of her recent visit to Hamburg, Minister of Economy of El Salvador, Lic. Yolanda Mayora de Gavidia, visited the J. J. Darboven company, owned by Honorary Consul of El Salvador in Hamburg, Mr. Arturo Darboven. On this occasion the Minister had the opportunity to learn about the production process of Salvadorian Coffee, before it gets on the German market.

After her presentation on the occasion of "Latin America Day 2007", Minister of Economy of El Salvador Lic. Yolanda Mayora de Gavidia spoke at a press conference to the media about the actual situation in El Salvador and the advantages the country is offering for foreign investors.

15.10.2007: Latin America Day 2007

On October 11 to 12, 2007, the Latin America Day took place in Hamburg. This event is organised every year by the chamber of commerce in Hamburg and Latin America Association. Participants are important German and Latin American Entrepreneurs. Minister of Economy of El Salvador, Lic. Mrs. Yolanda Mayora de Gavidia, on behalf of the President of the Republic, Elías Antonio Saca González, presented El Salvador and its advantages to foreign investors, extensively.

05.10.2007: 20 Years El Salvador



On the occasion of the 20th anniversary of co-operation between educational institutes in El Salvador and Honorary General Consul Mr. Karlheinz Wolfgang, chairman of VIPE, University Don Bosco project manager Mr. Heinz Trebbin Universität Heinz Trebbin visited Germany.

Next to his report about the well started project „Protheses for Children in El Salvador“ and "Preschool an der Universität Don Bosco", there was signed a project contract concerning a modern study centre with online library.

The University President honored the co-operation with Mr. Karlheinz Wolfgang and all his partners with a certificate and Don Bosco Medal of Honor.

Next to the Ambassador of El Salvador many representatives from ecomony and politics, as well as project sponsors took part.





28.09.2007: "20 years of projects in El Salvador"



Ein grand day on Saturday, September 15, 2007

The National Day as well as the appreciation of Honorary General Consul Karlheinz Wolfgang and his 20 years of cooperation with miscellaneous partners in educational or medical projects of VIPE between 1989 and 2007 were celebrated on the 15th of September 2007.
In Castle Friedestrom, located in in Dormagen Zons, with various guests from El Salvador and all regions of Germany, an exchange of experiences regarding project knowledge, took place. Moreover, decisions concerning future projects were made.

    21.09.2007: 186th Anniversary of Central American Independance (1821-2007)

    In commemoration of the des 186th Anniversary of Central American Independance, the Abmassadors of Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras und Nicaragua in Germany hold a reception at which all important personalities of the German Government, members of the dilpomatic corps and personalities otherwise connected with Central America appeared.

    2007-09-14: Visiting Airbus in Hamburg


    Ambassador Edgardo Suarez Mallagray, accompanied by Honorary Consul of El Salvador in Hamburg, Mr. Arturo Darboven, visited the offices of Airbus in Hamburg in order to prepare the visit of the President of El Salvador, Mr. Elías Antonio Saca, in October.

    Ambassador Edgardo Suarez Mallagray conducted a presentation about El Salvador on the occasion of the "Conference on Central American Economy", which was organised by the Chamber of Commerce and Industry for Munich and Upper Bavaria recently.

    During his stay in Moscow, Vice Foreign Minister Lic. Eduardo Cálix had a meeting with the International Entrepreneur´s Fund, where he was welcomed by its President,Mr. Murad G. Kuyaev, accompanied by General Director Mrs. Gyulnara A. Syleymanova. Intention of this meeting was to establish business contacts on the highest level and to plan precisely how to support investions and economical exchange.

    20.07.2007: Meeting of the Group of Latin American Ambassadors (GEALC) with Foreign Minister Dr. Frank-Walter Steinmeier

    In the Embassy of Mexiko in Berlin there a meeting took place on 17th of this month. The Latin American Ambassadors (GEALC - Grupo de Embajadores de América Latina) met with Foreign Minister Dr. Frank-Walter Steinmeier, accompanied by different members of Latin American Department of the German Foreign Ministry as well as Mr. Erick Bettermann, director of "Deutsche Welle" and some of his employees.

    The meeting aimed at an amicable face-to-face dialogue about common interests between Germany and the Latin American Countries.

    11.07.2007: Visita a la Cámara de Comercio e Industria en Moscú

    During his journey to Moscow, Vice Minister for Foreign Relations Eduardo Cálix met with Director for International Cooperation of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Russia, Mr. Sergey Vasiliev. The Vice Minister explained the economical situation in El Salvador and pointed out the importance of increasing the commercial exchange between both countries. Mr. Vasiliev explained the organisation of Russian chambers of commere and the possible ways to build a cooperation agreement between both countries. Moreover, they talked about the idea to create a Russian-Centroamerican Business Board.

    04.07.2007: Visita de Trabajo del Viceministro de Relaciones Exteriores de El Salvador a Moscú

    Del 21 al 22 de Junio del corriente año, el Sr. Viceministro de Relaciones Exteriores de El Salvador, Lic. Eduardo Cálix, acompañado del Sr. Embajador Guillermo Meléndez, Director General de Política Exterior y del Ing. Edgardo Suarez Mallagray, Embajador designado ante el gobierno de la Federación Rusa; realizó una visita de trabajo a la Ciudad de Moscú. En dicha visita el sr Viceministro se entrevistó con con el Sr. Viceministro de Relaciones Exteriores de la Federación Rusa, Sr. Serguei Kisliak y otros funcionarios del gobierno ruso, además de representantes de la cámara de Comercio e Industria de Rusia.

    2007-06-28: Trade relations between European Union and Central America

    Invited by the German Foreign Ministry the Central American Vice Secretaries of Commerce visited Berlin from June 10 to 15. They were accompanied by the SIECA (Bureau for Economical Integration of Central America) director for legal questions.

    During the visit the group met several German functionaries, who are assigned for the topic "Trade relations between European Union and Central America".

    13.06.2007: A house for El Salvador

    VIPE Foudation, under direction of Karlheinz Wolfgang, Honorary General Consul of our country in North Rhine-Westphalia, currently builds an apartment building in Delhoven in order to collect money for supporting socially disadvanteged families in El Salvador. The gains of selling the apartments will be spent for building a school in El Salvador.

    2007-05-30: Project "Prosthesis Supply in rural communities in El Salvador"

    Recently a meeting concerning the project "Prosthesis Supply in rural communities in El Salvador" took place at the seat of the Honorary Consul of El Salvador in Duesseldorf. This project is supported by charitable foundations VIPE (Foundation for International Project Developement) und KWS (Karlheinz Wolfgang Foundation for Education and Health). Chairman of both foundations is Honorary General Consul Mr. Karlheinz Wolfgang. The project is implemented in El Salvador by "Asociación Salesiana", in Co-operation with Orthopaedic Technical School, in order to supply accident victims and handicapped persons with a prosthesis, and to allow them a self-determined life.

    2007-04-18 Inauguration of El Salvador´s stand at International Tourism Fair ITB in Berlin

    Accompanied by Tourism Minister Rubén Rochi as well as Ambassador Edgardo Suarez Mallagray, Mrs. Vice President Ana Vilma Albanez de Escobar inaugurated the stand of El Salvador at the International Tourism Fair ITB, which recently took place in Berlin.

    El Salvador´s tourism minister took the chance to introduce the country�s new label "Impressive El Salvador" during a press conference.

    Members of the diplomatic corps in Germany, the Ambassadors of El Salvador in Italy, France and Spain as well as members of international and Salvadorian news agencies participated.

    Particularly important was the participation of El Salvador�s Vice President Mrs. Ana Vilma Albanez de Escobar.

    2007-03-05 Visit of Siemens AG deputy chairmen

    Ambassador Edgardo Suarez Mallagray recently met deputy chairmen of Siemens AG, Mr. Hannes Höhn and Dr. Hans-Peter Böhm. In this meeting Ambassador Suarez presented different actual development projects run by the government in El Salvador. The business men were interested especially in regional development projects.
